BBQ Alabama Style: Archibald's

Greetings Everyone,

I recently tagged along with some friends capturing video footage of a variety of "off the beaten path" Tuscaloosa landmarks, and we found ourselves at Archibald's BBQ in Northport. Anyone who lives in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area knows about Archibald's, but as I was photographing the restaurant, I got the idea to start another ongoing photo series involving all those great hole in the wall BBQ joints found around Alabama. Consider it a spin-off of the "Views from The Yellowhammer State" series, as I want to capture the essence of ALABAMA BBQ establishments, which usually take a backseat to those in Memphis and the Carolinas.

For those who don't know, Archibald's was established in 1962 by George Archibald, and it is now run by Archibald's son, George Jr., amongst other family members. It is the definition of a no-frills establishment, but that does not deter the incredible amount of business that it does. It has been featured in numerous publications throughout the country, and it is highly recommended for those who find themselves in the Tuscaloosa/Northport area.

Archibald's can be found at 1211 MLK Blvd, Northport, AL 35473.
